High Raw and Happy!

OK, darlings... Here is an update on my rawness... I am currently eating raw all day and then having a cooked dinner. I don't really know what "%" raw that makes me and frankly, I have given up on the whole "how raw are you?" question. My only answer is raw enough for right now. You see, after I came home from Jamaica, I realized how much stress I was causing myself by playing the whole "I need to be 100% raw or else I'm a failure" game. I'm not doing it anymore. Period. I feel like the stress that I was causing myself by obsessing about my level of rawness was doing more harm than good. Now, I just naturally tend to choose to drink smoothies, juices, teas, and water in the morning and then have some sort of raw veggie dish in the afternoon. My husband and son are "raw concious" vegetarians and I cook dinner for them nightly so I usually enjoy what I cook for them as my night time meal. I really try to avoid wheat, cooked sugar, and dairy like the plague because they make me feel terrible. I thought, for a while, about stopping this blog because I didn't know if I should refer to myself as "rawmama" if I wasn't eating 100% raw. I have come to the conclusion that I am not going to stop this blog and that most raw fooders aren't 100% raw anyway. I am just going to keep doing my thing and documenting it here. I like to blog and I like my level of rawness right now. So I'm just going to keep on keeping on.

Hope you are all feeling fantastic and at peace with where you are on your journey right now. I think you are all fantastic- NO MATTER WHAT! Big love to you all and please be nice to yourselves. Okay?

Here is a picture of a particularly gorgeous papaya from our garden. Enjoy!

Brava!! I agree totally with you:) Stressing yourself out over this lifestyle is counter productive to its many benefits. I have been very high raw, and on many days am at 100%, but I do not live my life policing my plate or my palate anymore and it makes for a much healthier, happier life!

We'll take you at whatever level of raw you're at. Period.

I think what you are doing is great. I did this myself. For a while I started to stress over being 100% and it made things worse, I started eating things I said I would not. I think it's best to take it slow. I know for sure that jumping to quickly into 100% raw is not a good thing if you are not ready to stay. I believe that we can make this a lifestyle if we take our time and retrain ourselves. I can't imagine someone coming from 26 years of cooked and then just jump into raw and not have a problem. Some people can do it but I think taking your time is better. Who cares what people think. When people ask me what I eat I am now learning to say the healthiest food possible and that is it, nothing else matters. Sounds like you are doing great.

Good for you, rawmama. Keep doing what you're doing. Whatever you are eating that is cooked, keep it vegan/vegetarian and keep it wholesome. You should read the books written by Natalia Rose. I think you would find it enlightening.

Rawmama, I have come to the same conclusions about eating raw as you did. My diet is pretty much exactly what you described today. My only problem eating this way is that I can't seem to lose any weight, in fact I gain when I eat any cooked. I wonder if we somehow re-set our metabolism or body chemistry when eating 100% raw, so that cooked food doesn't get digested, just adds pounds? This is what I am struggling with.

Hello! I know what you mean about not loosing any weight with the raw til dinner eating plan. I only lose if I exercise eating the way that I currently am... And since I really should be exercising I'm just using this fact to motivate me. We will see how it goes. It is very interesting to me though, because the last time I was 100% raw I lost over ten pounds in ten days and I ate raw cheesecake and raw taco salads everyday... Kinda puts things in perspective for me... Raw food is magical. No doubt about that...

I just had this convo with my partner this weekend.

To me is all about Health (mine and those around me). It's about organic products and HOME MADE goodness. Not not the bragging rights of being a % of ANYTHING!!

I am so happy you are doing it for YOURSELF and YOUR love ones!!

Love is...

Yay for you! I remember the pressure I put on myself when I was eating raw to be "100%". I came to the conclusion that it's more about health than a %. And that includes mental and spiritual health as well as physical. I gave up the 'rawmama' name because I thought I no longer lived up to that. Crap! Eating raw foods helped me get to know the real me that I had been hiding under layers of not just excess weight, but conditionings as well. Sure, there were other processes that went on and other work I've done (as have you) and it wasn't 'just' eating a particular way. But I have become free to really be me - exposed, raw...here i am world! it's not about how you eat so much as Who You Really Are. You have so many gifts to share with your honesty and passion and depth. Treat your body kindly with gentle foods (fresh or cooked), and let your raw - real - self shine through. Keep this name and keep on blogging!
